The CSU Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a free, hands-on education series for families, teens, and youth who currently receive or are eligible to receive food assistance, WIC, Head Start, free or reduce lunch, or any assistance programs.
What is EFNEP?
EFNEP is a researched based program that works with various organizations to assist limited-resource families, teens, and youth in acquiring knowledge, skills, attitudes and changed-behavior necessary for nutritionally sound diets. We contribute to personal development and improvement of total family diet and nutritional well-being. at various agencies and community centers around Arapahoe County. EFNEP classes are taught in English and Spanish.
EFNEP Classes Offered:
Eating Smart Being Active (ESBA) for Adults
ESBA for Adults is a 8-week series on nutrition, food safety, stretching food dollars and the importance of physical activity. EFNEP classes last 60 to 90 minutes per week for eight week and can be taught one-on-one or in groups at homes, community centers, parents at schools, churches, non-profits and other agencies.

Eating Smart Being Active for Teens
ESBA for Teens is an 8-week series on nutrition, food safety, stretching food dollars and the importance of physical activity. EFNEP classes last 60 to 90 minutes per week for eight week and can be taught in groups at traditional high schools, alternative high schools, and various teen programs.

Show Me Nutrition for 3rd and 4rd Grade Youth
Show Me Nutrition for youth is an 8 to 9 week series which focus on concepts of the MyPlate, keeping food safe, how digestion works, reading food labels, planning and trying healthy snacks and the importance of physical activity.

EFNEP also offers 3 additional Maternal and Infant Nutrition lessons on:
- Eating smart and staying active during pregnancy
- Feeding a new baby
- Feeding a baby solid foods
Throughout the lessons, participants will receive:
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Food thermometer
- Produce brush
- Stretch band and physical activity booklet
- Grocery lists
- Water bottle
- Cookbook filled with low-cost, easy-to-prepare and nutritious recipes
